1 Brainstorming: Volunteering

Work with a partner. 

• Think of five different kinds of jobs that teens have or volunteer work that teens do. 
• For each job or volunteer work, write a definition that describes the work and its main tasks or responsibilities.
• Add the job or volunteer work and its definition to the glossary.

2 Writing activity

• Create a new forum entry (200 words). 
• Write 8-10 sentences which describe a past job or volunteer activity.
• After that read the three entries by your classmates that follow yours. (If your entry is one of the last, go to the first entries written by your classmates.) 
• Reply to your classmates’ entries (75 words). Ask each classmate three to four questions about what they posted.

3 An interview

Now it’s your turn to do some research on students’ summer jobs. Work with a partner. 

• Look at your partner’s forum entry and the questions your classmates had for them (Part 2 above). 
• Write a list of five to six questions in advance. Use a mix of closed and open questions.
• Ask two to three follow-up questions during the interview. Then answer your partner’s questions.
• Practice your interview. Take notes if needed. 
• Record the interview with your classmate. 
• Hand in the audio file in which you are the interviewee to your teacher as a file in Moodle.
